In collaboration with Cascadia FC and multiple Sounders content pages, we issue a joint statement regarding the possible relocation of the Vancouver Whitecaps. We have one message: Cascadia is not Cascadia without Vancouver.
We vehemently oppose the potential relocation of the Vancouver Whitecaps, as we are against the relocation of any team in any sport. Following the recent concerning reports, since the Whitecaps have not secured an ownership group in Vancouver as of late April 2026, and talks have been held of alternative locations such as Las Vegas. Club and franchise relocation to an unrelated area is never acceptable.
The Whitecaps leaving Vancouver especially would affect all football in North America, and it would permanently scar the entire region of Cascadia. Encompassing British Columbia, Washington State, and Oregon, the three-horse rivalry dynamic would consequently no longer exist, turning the game more stale and soulless.
If the relocation of the Whitecaps were to go through, the league would be tossing aside a vibrant footballing community and historical club.
Speaking as Seattle-based platforms and outlets, we strongly encourage all of our followers to support the #SaveTheCaps movement. Similarly to the relocation of the Seattle SuperSonics in 2008, which left Seattle without an NBA team for now almost 20 years, the supporters in Vancouver would have no top-division football club to represent their area. These are simply one of the things that are bigger than rivalries.
We and the rest of the North American footballing community urge for an ownership group to step forward and keep the Whitecaps in Vancouver, BC.
