After picking up on his end-of-season waiver in the last week, the Sounders have officially announced the signing of 21-year-old goalkeeper Max Anchor on a one-year deal with options for June 2027 and the 2027/28 season.
Anchor spent his entire professional career north of the border at Cascadia rivals Vancouver Whitecaps, as well as playing for their academy since 13 years old. The Whitecaps academy product then signed for their MLS NEXT Pro side in 2022, making 38 starts for the Whitecaps 2 and was able to make one MLS appearance through short-term loan. Anchor has been part of the Whitecaps first team roster since 2023.

For Seattle, adding a new young player with valuable professional experience is key to helping promote Goalkeeper competition. As a low-risk deal, Anchor adds depth and pro experience to an already strong Rave Green Goalkeeper room.
