On Friday afternoon local time in Portugal, early morning in Seattle time, the Sounders fell to Danish side Bröndby in the team’s first preseason friendly of the year. The game was held in Almancil, Portugal, at Estádio Do Algarve.
In the friendly, a standard two 45-minutes halves were played, and Brian Schmetzer sent out two different lineups in each half.
Bröndby found the first goal when Tahirovic found the back of Andrew Thomas’ net at the 28th minute. Holding the score past halftime, Bröndby held off the Sounders and eventually confirmed the non-competitive win with a last minute penalty by Divkovic.

The Sounders will return to Marbella, Spain to prepare for the next pre-season friendlies against Hammarby IF of Sweden and FC Metalist 1925 Kharkiv of Ukraine. Both friendlies will be played on February 5th, with the first Hammarby game kicking off at 4am PT and the Metalist game at 7am PT.
