Schmetzer Provides Injury Updates on Morris and Dotson

Morris out for four weeks due to a quad injury, and Dotson is not in concussion protocol.

Following injury concerns from the team’s victory on opening day, Sounders Head Coach Brian Schmetzer confirmed at training this week that Hassani Dotson is not in concussion protocol following concerns after the home opener. However, for Jordan Morris, Schmetzer said that the case is “a bit of bad news,” and the 31-year-old striker will be sidelined for four weeks with a grade 1a pulled quad.

Specifically, the shooting mechanism in the middle area of Morris’ quad is strained. Schmetzer doesn’t see this injury as a serious case, though he speculates that the injury may have happened during warmups prior to the Colorado game and said, “I probably should have kept him [Morris] out of the game.”

Morris went through periods of time out of action last season due to similar leg injuries, though Schmetzer clarified in the media scrum that his current quad injury is not related and is happening in a different muscle group.
