The Sounders announced the first team signing of former Ballard, University of Washington, and Tacoma Defiance standout Peter Kingston on a one-year deal, with club options for 2027 and 2027/28.
Brian Schmetzer previously expressed his desire to have Craig Waibel promoted Peter Kingston to the first team. Kingston, during recent his short-term loan to the first team, has put in impressive performances against San Jose and both legs against Vancouver.

Now that the promotion is official, Schmetzer made updated remarks on Kingston, stating that “Peter has earned this contract through the work he’s put in every day.”
Calls to promote Kingston to the first team came after Seattle’s road victory at San Jose, after Antino Lopez played the match of his young career that eventually got him immediately signed to the first team. The pre-first-team Kingston hype peaked after he made two spectacular assists as a second-half substitute in the second leg against Vancouver Whitecaps.
Kingston is the second-ever former Ballard player after Leo Burney to end up signing for the Sounders first team since the Bridge’s inception in 2023. For the Tacoma Defiance, alongside Kingston, several other former Ballard players joined the club’s second team, including Lars Helleren, Demian Alvarez, Danny Robles, Joe Dale, and Charlie Gnaffey, who signed around the same time as Kingston.
