Paul Rothrock is in reportedly in advanced talks to sign with the San Jose Earthquakes, first reported by Niko Moreno of Sport Pulso. There are also some other MLS clubs interested in picking up the Sounders homegrown midfielder.
From the Sounders-side of negotiations, there has been no known progress by the club as of now. As time passes with no news of a new contract, Rothrock’s future outside of Seattle grows into a higher possibility.

However, it is possible that Seattle can hold onto Rothrock given that Craig Waibel mentioned in the end of season press conference that there have been positive conversations. As of early December, though, there has been no negotiation progress.
Rothrock grew to become a fan favorite since he broke into the first team and proved to be a crucial impact player for Brian Schmetzer.
Losing Rothrock, especially to another MLS team, would be a major blow for the Sounders. Letting go of a young homegrown player who has the potential to one day become a club legend would be a sad story anywhere.
