Danny Leyva has signed for Club Necaxa on a three year deal. The homegrown Sounders midfielder, who debuted with the club at 16 years old, will depart Seattle after six years in the first team. Leyva, now 22, made 107 appearances in all competitions and made eight assists in MLS and for the Sounders first team. For the Tacoma Defiance, Leyva scored three goals in 40 appearances.

Leyva began to receive less playing time in the latter half of his career with the Sounders, a situation that eventually led to his loan transfer to the Colorado Rapids. In the 2025 season, Leyva had a notable presence on the field, featuring in about half of the league’s games and starting only six of those matches.

Going into 2026, Leyva will be a Club Necexa player where he begins this new challenge after achieving notable successes in Seattle, including winning the 2019 MLS Cup, the 2022 CONCACAF Champions Cup, and the 2025 Leagues Cup with the Sounders. As he transitions to this new environment, Leyva carries with him the lessons learned and the triumphs celebrated during his time in Seattle.
