Andy Rose will leave the club as assistant coach to become LAFC’s assistant coach, the Sounders announced this morning. Rose is a longtime Sounder, being part of the club as a player between 2012-2015 and assistant coach since 2022.
Coach Schmetzer and Craig Waibel mentioned the significance and influence Rose had on the club after Rose’s departure because official, where Schmetzer said “From his time as a player and as a coach, he has always brought the highest level of competitiveness, intellect and support to our coaching staff and players. While we’ll miss having him with us, this is a great opportunity for Andy.”
While the move can be seen as a loss for the Seattle Sounders, it only shows the value the Sounders put into a quality coaching staff. Other prior assistant coaches to Brian Schmetzer’s staff have pivoted to other projects. Most recently, Gonzalo Pineda was the Head Coach of Atlanta United.
