Today the Sounders announced the pickup of Charlotte midfielder Nikola Petkovi? on a one-season loan. Reports from earlier this week indicated that the Sounders were in talks in acquiring the 22-year-old, and the club acted quickly to make the move official.
Petkovi? joined Charlotte’s second team in 2023, scoring three goals in 18 appearances. The Serbian then joined their first team in 2024. In MLS, Petkovi? has scored one goal and made 18 appearances since signing. In all competitions, he has made 24 appearance in a Charlotte kit. Internationally, Petkovi? has one cap for Serbia under his belt so far.
